Paul Krugman: I’m going to take down comments on this one”

Paul Krugman, at the the New York Times, refers to himself as the “The Conscience of a Liberal” on the New York Times Opinion Pages. Paul wrote an article, “Assassination Attempt In Arizona”, that should have reported the events that occurred in Tuscon, Arizona, Saturday and expressed proper sympathies for those injured or lost. He should have then included the facts as known about the shooter and then left it with updates will follow after police investigate further.

Well, he didn’t do that. What he did was creates a hornet’s nest of rants, raves, anger, and finger-pointing by the “liberal, radical, Democrats in America who have been in a frenzy since mid-term elections. Across America, the “Tea Party,” acting on behalf of the wishes of 70% of Americans, got out and campaigned for candidates challenging elected officials not listening to the people when they voiced their desire for an end to radical over spending by Congress and repealing laws hurting the country, taking away people’s rights, and causing massive unemployment. The Tea Party efforts were directed in a non-partisan way.

Naturally Democrats were enraged over the outcome of the mid-terms. Krugman and the Liberal Democrats have ragged against the Republicans, the Tea Party, and Sarah Palin because they were inciting violence in America which he feels will led to the events Saturday

“You know that Republicans will yell about the evils of partisanship whenever anyone tries to make a connection between the rhetoric of Beck, Limbaugh, etc. and the violence I fear we’re going to see in the months and years ahead. But violent acts are what happen when you create a climate of hate. And it’s long past time for the GOP’s leaders to take a stand against the hate-mongers.”

Now Krugman has stopped posting comments on his post:

Update: I’m going to take down comments on this one; they would need a lot of moderating, because the crazies are coming out in force, and it’s all too likely to turn into a flame war.

It would seem that Krugman doesn’t want readers to exercise  “free speech” and respond to his ridiculous  and callous post. Whatever happened to those “journalists” who wore the 1st Amendment across their chests like a banner? Whatever happened to those journalists who practiced a “Code of Ethics” written by journalists as guides for non-corrupt and unbiased journalism? Whatever happened to those journalists who, at times, put themselves in harm’s way to find the truth?

I find it sad that the protectors of the “1st. Amendment” are the very ones who most flagrantly violate their own standards and censor truth. I find it even repugnant that the media has given up the “Torch of Free Speech” for a failed ideology. Thank God “Talk Radio” and people like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, etc., and bloggers [ordinary citizens like you and me] stand alone in the “fight for truth” as the mainstream media joins the Liberal, socialists extremist in their efforts to take away our rights, destroy our country, and eat away at our Constitution!

Maybe it is the fault of all Americans because we held the Media up on a pedestal. That is a hard burden for anyone to carry! Maybe we also abdicated our responsibilities by not forcing accountability in journalism. Maybe what we did was grant blind trust.

But that has changed now. Ordinary Americans have begun to retake their responsibilities. We are fighting for our rights.  We are demanding accountability from the media and our elected officials. We are taking back America and we are taking back our rights! We will no longer “go quietly into the dark night!”.

Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light
