The home office for the NEA is located in Washington, D.C. The largest labor union in the United States, the union has a membership exceeding 3.1 million members.

Based in Washington, DC, the 3.1 million-member National Education Association (NEA) is the largest labor union in the United States. It represents public school teachers and support personnel; faculty and staffers in colleges and universities; retired educators; and college students preparing to become teachers. The NEA’s mission is “to advocate for education professionals and to unite our members and the nation to fulfill the promise of public education to prepare every student to succeed in a diverse and interdependent world.” The NEA pursues these goals through its 14,000+ local affiliate organizations, its 51 state affiliates, and its Washington, DC-based national headquarters.

On the surface, this all sounds great. As a parent, I would feel very comforted that the school system teaching my two children maintained such high standards. But, closer examination of the NEA and its history tell another story.

The NEA was founded in 1850 as the National Teachers Association, and  adopted its present name in 1857. Promoting government-owned public  schools and “modern” pedagogical ideas, this union permitted no private  school teachers to join its ranks. These government-owned-and-run  schools were modeled on statist European education in Prussia, and  attracted socialist activist teachers who saw public school students as  perfect subjects for re-engineering society. That remolding began with  the anti-Catholic objectives of Horace Mann (1796-1859) and expanded to  the anti-religious humanism of John Dewey (1859-1952).

Re-known writer Ayn Rand wrote in “Man’s Rights”…[go read the complete essay] the following excerpts:

Individual rights are the means of subordinating society to moral law……………..

Every political system is based on some code of ethics. The dominant ethics of mankind’s history were variants of the altruist-collectivist doctrine which subordinated the individual to some higher authority, either mystical or social. Consequently, most political systems were variants of the same statist tyranny, differing only in degree, not in basic principle, limited only by the accidents of tradition, of chaos, of bloody strife and periodic collapse. Under all such systems, morality was a code applicable to the individual, but not to society. Society was placed outside the moral law, as its embodiment or source or exclusive interpreter—and the inculcation of self-sacrificial devotion to social duty was regarded as the main purpose of ethics in man’s earthly existence…………

This was true of all statist systems, under all variants of the altruist-collectivist ethics, mystical or social…….

The most profoundly revolutionary achievement of the United States of America was the subordination of society to moral law.

The principle of man’s individual rights represented the extension of morality into the social system—as a limitation on the power of the state, as man’s protection against the brute force of the collective, as the subordination of might to right. The United States was the first moral society in history…………….

A “right” is a moral principle defining and sanctioning a man’s freedom of action in a social context. There is only one fundamental right (all the others are its consequences or corollaries): a man’s right to his own life. Life is a process of self- sustaining and self-generated action; the right to life means the right to engage in self-sustaining and self-generated action-which means: the freedom to take all the actions required by the nature of a rational being for the support, the furtherance, the fulfillment and the enjoyment of his own life. (Such is the meaning of the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.)…….

Bear in mind that the right to property is a right to action, like all the others: it is not the right to an object, but to the action and the consequences of producing or earning that object. It is not a guarantee that a man will earn any property, but only a guarantee that he will own it if he earns it………..

The concept of individual rights is so new in human history that most men have not grasped it fully to this day……..

The great achievement of the United States was to draw a distinction between these two—by forbidding to the second the legalized version of the activities of the first.

The goal of the NEA has never been about providing a quality education to our students at all levels. Its goal has always been about promoting a new world order through at the expense of our children. In 1935 the following report was given at the 72nd Annual NEA Convention:

In a 1935 report presented at the 72nd annual NEA convention, the union’s future Executive Secretary Willard Givens wrote: “A dying laissez-faire must be completely destroyed and all of us … must be subjected to a large degree of social control…. The major function of the school is the social orientation of the individual. It must seek to give him understanding of the transition to a new social order.”

By 1938, the union was well on its way toward achieving its goals in America

In a 2003 article titled “NEA Hastens Death of American Education,” veteran journalist Ralph de Toledano wrote that in 1938 “the Institute for Social Research, founded by the Comintern, appeared on the Columbia University campus, taking over the Teachers College, the country’s most influential school of education.” “Better known as the Frankfurt School,” de Toledano continued, “… [the Institute] eschewed the economic aspects of Marxism and promulgated a substitute based on Marx’s 1843 preachments. Later labeled neo-Marxism, the program called for the destruction of religion, the family, education and all moral values, along with the capture of the intellectuals and the instruments of mass communication such as the press, radio and films. To this it appended a new Freudianism, which reduced human relationships to rampant sexuality and the grossest pleasure principles — a program its secret founder boasted ‘will make America stink.’”
Added de Tolenado: “The Frankfurt School’s program, implemented by the NEA, made the goal of education not to educate the young but to give them an anarchic ‘self-esteem’ and deprive them of any sense of what’s wrong or right … [a]nd it preached the alienation of children from parental guidance, urging them to ‘inform’ on their families, as in Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany.”

NEA supports abortion, sex education, teen pregnancy, school prayer, socialized medicine, affordable housing, drug testing, prisoner rights, school vouchers, and bilingual education, abortion, sex education, teen pregnancy, school prayer, socialized medicine, homosexual marriage and other forms of marriage, including polygamy, and supported removal of prayer in our classrooms.

Besides the fact that NEA teaches our kids that America caused 9/11 by its foreign policies, forces teachers to pay dues, spends millions in supporting the Democratic Party and is a member of a coalition that includes organizations such as ACORN without regard for membership wishes, it has an army of union foot-soldiers who go out soliciting votes for the radical left in America using handbooks promoting Saul Alinsky’s books to learn his tactics for organizing and promoting its goals to transform America.

In my opinion, since its start in the late 1800’s, the NEA has done more to destroy capitalism and individual rights in America than any other organization!

Wisconsin Governor Walker is right to not compromise with the NEA. If the NEA isn’t stopped in Wisconsin, it will use the same tactics in the rest of the United States and help Obama bring about the total collapse of our way of life, our economy, and our republic. After reading about the deliberate efforts of the NEA to teach our children its radical anti-American views and transform America to neo-Marxism I can see now that they have been the one missing piece of the puzzle to understanding the apparent sudden rise of radicals in America. The NEA has been raping the minds of our children for nearly a century. They were always lurking quietly in the background. An evil, silent enemy, destroying everything good about America.

Well, they won’t win. They can’t have my America! They can’t have your America. As Ayn Rand said in “Man’s Right’s”

The most profoundly revolutionary achievement of the United States of America was the subordination of society to moral law.

As a member of the first moral society to exist, I refuse to give up my rights or my morality! I agree with Patrick Henry when he said, “Give me Liberty or give me death!!”

[edited to correct quote. I knew Patrick Henry made this statement, why in the world I put Thomas Paine, I can’t say except I hadn’t slept much when I wrote this post. True; but, not a good excuse!..My thanks to Barb. She caught my error!]

    Hi,

Just wanted you to know that it was Patrick Henry, and not Thomas Paine, who said, “Give me liberty or give me death.” Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense pamphlet.

You might want to fix that to preserve your credibility.

    Thanks and good day!
