Love it or Leave it!!

IF THERE BE TROUBLE, LET IT BE IN MY DAY, THAT MY CHILD MAY HAVE PEACE..Thomas Paine, "The Crisis" 1776, ("The Undefeated").

We have been told how bad we are for so long, we have forgotten all the good that is America!

Louisiana spill response on Mississippi river

The events across our nation for the last several weeks changed my mind. It ought to change yours too!

All across the United States  there have been tornadoes, floods , and fires that have ravaged towns, farmlands, and forests. Thousands have lost their homes and livelihood. Farms are ruined. Crops of every imaginable type are wiped out. The loss to the timber industry is equally devastating. Local economies are destroyed, businesses, banks, hospitals, grocery stores, schools – all gone. Housing, gone, towns, gone!

With all the total destruction, one can only wonder about the health issues the affected regions will now face. Food and water are in demand. Shelter, clothing, sanitary items, medicines will all be in short supply. But, what about diseases? I haven’t heard a single report on whether locals will face health threats as a result of so much flooding. It is only a matter of time before such large bodies of flood water becomes contaminated from garbage, debris, sewage, dead animals – domestic and wild, human corpses.

Every state adjoining the Mississippi and it tributaries, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Alabama, Georgia,. the Carolinas, Virginia. Even the North Atlantic states and those up and down the West coast were affected. Those on the Northern West coast are experiencing extreme cold breaking existing records.

The cost in money will eventually be tallied. The cost in human lives and misery can’t be calculated. Throughout it all, the Federal government has been absent. What hasn’t been absent is the American spirit of friend  helping friend, stranger helping stranger, neighbor helping neighbor! I heard a lot about hope and God. I even heard about determination. What I didn’t hear or see was looting and despair. Instead I heard determination!

Based on the U.S. Drought Monitor,94 percent of Texas is in severe to exceptional drought…….Nation-wide, the year-to-date period, January – April, has the greatest acreage burned in history, according to the National Interagency Fire Center….

…The largest tornado outbreak and greatest one-day total for tornadoes in history occurred during the historic April 25 – 28, 2011 tornado outbreak, said NOAA in a press release updated yesterday. They estimate 190 tornadoes touched down during the 24-hour period from 8:00 a.m. EDT April 27 to 8:00 a.m. EDT April 28 (134 tornadoes have already been confirmed, with several weeks of damage surveys still to come.) NOAA’s estimate for the number of tornadoes during the three-day April 25 – 28, 2011 Super Outbreak, is 305 (201 are confirmed so far.) This is nearly double the previous record for a multi-day tornado outbreak of 155 tornadoes, set just two weeks previously during the April 14 – 16, 2011 outbreak….

….The Mississippi River has crested at Memphis, Tennessee this morning, reaching the 2nd highest level on record. The flood height of 47.79′ was just below the all-time record height of 48.7′ set in the great 1937 flood…..

America was settled by people who demonstrated the same perseverance we have all watched this past few weeks. No one looked at the color, race, national origin, or religion of the man or woman standing beside them. Instead, they stood side by side, Americans helping one another in the time honored fashion we have all come to expect and often taken for granted! Even prisoners helped build up barriers to hold back the flood waters from the mighty Mississippi. The sheriff in one town credited their local prisoners with saving the town. Now that’s not just high praise, that’s respect!

I have to be honest, lately I have wondered if that spirit the American spirit, was dead. The speeches by the progressive hate mongers have told us in a steady diet how horrible Americans really are today! Really? Take a closer look all you socialist/communist/Marxist traitors. Take a closer look Cass Sunstein. Mr. Obama, take a good look. You are seeing America at her finest! Do you really think you can break us down! Hell no! God, I love this country. Is it any wonder?
