Bloomberg – No Religious Leaders, No First Responders ! Why Not?

As the “9/11 Tenth Anniversary Celebration” approaches, the event is clouded in controversy. Mayor Bloomberg, in his infinite wisdom, has decided that there is no room to accommodate the first responders, the New York Fire Department (FDNY), the New York Police Department (NYPD, and the the Emergency Medical Services Officers {EMS Officers).”  Nor will he have any Religious Leaders to deliver a prayer. Hmm!

Weren’t members of all three of these departments the ones who risked their lives to rush in and rescue those people trapped in the fallen “Twin Towers?” Didn’t many of the three die as a result of their selfless efforts. Aren’t many dying now as a result of their exposure to the poisonous air surrounding the downed towers?

GUARANTEE NOT 1 OF MY FACEBOOK FRIENDS WILL COPY THIS POST…IF YOU WOULD BE THERE FOR ME THEN COPY THIS… I AM DOING THIS TO PROVE A FRIEND WRONG THAT SOMEONE IS ALWAYS LISTENING …NYPD, FDNY AND EMS OFFICERS WERE NOT INVITED TO THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY CEREMONY OF 9/11… MAYOR BLOOMBERG CLAIMS THERE IS NO ROOM FOR THEM… 10 YEARS AGO, THEY WEREN’T INVITED, BUT THEY SHOWED UP WHEN EVERYONE ELSE WAS RUNNING OUT!!! RE-POST IF YOU AGREE THEY SHOULD BE THERE

As if this insult to our first responders was not enough, the Mayor’s decision not to have any religious leaders present to lead prayer for the memorial services has created quite a clamor, too! Bloomberg says he wants to make sure the families of those lost in the 9/11 bombings are shown first consideration.

I appreciate that! I am sure the families also appreciate the courtesy. However, I cannot imagine a memorial service without a religious leader delivering a prayer. I found much speculation over reasons for the Mayor’s decision. Among them, the idea he didn’t consider it appropriate to have a Muslim Iman present. In this instance, many will cry foul; but, I agree. ( I found no supporting evidence this was the Mayor’s reason!) But, in any event I voice my opinion about this!

This would be especially disturbing with the conflict over building a Mosque near “Ground Zero!” Many radical Islamist consider the Mosque a tribute to the 9/11 terrorists. I could care less what Muslims feel about Imans being excluded. The wishes of the families of those lost is what has paramount concern. Let them all propose a religious leader to lead the services in prayer! Wasn’t that an easy solution?

From the The Huffington Post:

Mayor Michael Bloomberg‘s tightly choreographed ceremony to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11 will not include any religious leaders, his office confirmed to the Wall Street Journal, a move that has put some pious politicians and clergy into a tizzy.

“This is America, and to have a memorial service where there’s no prayer, this appears to be insanity to me,” Rudy Washington, former Deputy Mayor to Rudy Giuliani who organized an interfaith ceremony at Yankee Stadium shorty after the 9/11 attacks, told the Journal. “I feel like America has lost its way.”

I am sick of political correctness. I am sick of everything we do in this country requiring the permission of the “socialists/communists/Marxists” now ruining our country. Maxine Waters says “the Tea Party can go to hell!” Well, Maxine, the “Tea Party” is the “voice of ‘We the People!'” That means the majority of Americans. That majority consists of Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, and every other American who believes in the U.S. Constitution and the American Republic of our forefathers! Suck it up! God isn’t dead yet in America!

  1. What’s the point of having a memorial at all, if the there will be no recognition of the heros who saved lives. Let the politicians stay home and make room for the people who really count. You should stay home and let Giuliani be the Host Master.. The people who lost their lives and theit families would most likley want to have some clergy there. Invite one of each denomination. for a short prayer. Is it the goal to get it overwith in a short time? Shame on you Mr Bloomberg

I don’t live in New York but like millions of Americans in this country, 9/11 touched us all. I still cry when it is mentioned or talked about. I cry for those who lost their lives that day. What I can’t understand is why the mayor of New York would say there isn’t enough room for the fire fighters, the police and the EMS people who ran to help without giving a second thought to their own lives. How do you not include those who give no thought about themselves but their goal is to save people. I think your Mayor needs to be checked into a looney bin because obviously he has no concern for those who save lives. May God forgive him for this as I feel many Americans will have a lot to say to him and not to allow prayer. New York, wake up. Is this the kind of guy you want running your city? concerned citizen from the great northwest

Dear Mayor, If this is a POLITICAL gathering, I agree with your decision to not invite religous organizations to attend. By all I read and hear about it, this is a MEMORIAL. Muslims, Jews, Christians and peoples of other religous affiliations all died in this tragedy. Invite one of each of the half dozen or so major religions and give each of them 30 seconds of SILENCE. Three or four minutes of the time allotted to conduct these ceremonies will not destroy any time table that has been established.
Not inviting the FIRST RESPONDERS is wrong. Ask several hundred of the useless politicians attending to give up their seat for a first responder. Not only can the politician do the right thing, they can gain some great P.R. Don’t hesitate to include yourself. You were not the Mayor at the time a first responder was heading into that building. Hopefully, you at least invited some of the families of those first responders who lost their lives in this tragedy.
