Throughout the month of April, severe weather has ravaged the Midwest, Southern states, and the East coast of America. The National Weather Service reports there have been over 650 tornadoes killing over two-hundred people. Towns are leveled in places. Millions are without power and telephone service of any type, virtually isolated from the outside “world.” Fire, Rescue, EMS, Sanitation services to name a few, have been destroyed in areas. Ethanol and Ethano 101 – Are We getting all the Facts?
Posted by devildog6771 on April 20, 2011
From SECO, the State Energy Conservation Office in Texas, I found another article, ETHANOL, which discusses the pros and cons of using ethanol as an alternative fuel source.
I also found another post by Hendon Publishing Company, Ethanol 101. Again this article discusses the pros and cons of using ethanol as an alternative or supplemental fuel source to gasoline.
Both posts indicate that ethanol is not the magic panacea President Obama would have us believe it is to off-sett the cost and availability of Middle East oil. Go to both links and read what both articles say about ethanol!

Ethanol Makes Gasoline Costlier, Dirtier
Posted by devildog6771 on April 20, 2011
From the CATO Institute, I have found an article that reviews the “Untruths and misconceptions about ethanol.” As I read this post, I could hear President Obama giving another one of his speeches about the many advantages of using ethanol as a feasible alternative to relying totally on imported oil.
After doing some research, I find that Obama’s claims about the advantages of using ethanol are anything but accurate!
Ethanol will lead to energy independence. If all the corn produced in America last year were dedicated to ethanol production (14.3 percent of it was), U.S. gasoline consumption would drop by 12 percent. For corn ethanol to completely displace gasoline consumption in this country, we would need to appropriate all U.S. cropland, turn it completely over to corn-ethanol production, and then find 20 percent more land for cultivation on top of that.

Ethanol Fuel from Corn Faulted as ‘Unsustainable Subsidized Food Burning’
Posted by devildog6771 on April 20, 2011
For several days many news reports talked about the increasing cost of gas and the effect on the American consumer and our economy. As a result of this continuous increase in gas prices, the government and many people in America are wondering if we need to start relying on ethanol-gas or just ethanol as an alternative fuel source to power our vehicles in America.
President Obama wants laws created to force the auto industry to make more or all ethanol-gas or ethanol powered vehicles. Meanwhile the public and many lawmakers don’t believe the government has any business enacting such laws.
What none of those for or against the ethanol-gas or all ethanol alternative fuel source have discussed is the feasibility of such a conversion. Here is a copy of a report published by David Pimental, a leading Cornell University agricultural expert, which discusses the ramifications of using ethanol as an alternative fuel source.
